What is known is this: when corruption is around, the economy suffers.
Lets break it down even more: the people pay the taxes for a small group of people to benefit, instead of all. When the people are in fear, nothing can be done about it. It helps when the intimidators carry weapons that can stun and kill, and are not available to the people.
Look at the State of Montana, in its western part.
You have the Flathead Valley where the last 15 years have been good to them, prospering, and encouraging people to take college classes, and better them selves.
Missoula obviously has a rail and interstate highway corridor, as well as the revenues of a State University within their area. Many people want to live and work in Missoula, or goto school.
Now look at the Bitterroot, one way in, one way out, surrounded by mountains. No rail service, a highway worn out within 4 years. Few economic opportunities, and fewer jobs. Businesses shuttering up, and most organizations willing to join the local co-op.
What is this co-op, sounds like businesses keeping an eye out for each other, and a good thing. The group sure does look out for each other, via civil conspiracy. When one needs a favor, it reaches out to another. The problem is the head of this organization can make decisions about people's lives which violates what the United States stands for, and protects.
The Bitterroot valley is nothing more than a co-op of native born Montanans who look out for one another. Rules, laws, and rights are easily bent for the co-op. With the presence of the co-op the economy is channeled to the very top of this group. Those contributing taxes, most deserving of this economy never see it. That is why the co-op form of government has been detrimental to commerce in the Bitterroot Valley as compared to other areas of the state who have relatively been thriving.
The question is, when are the people going to throw off the co-op and flourish our economy?
